The Productive Value of Care

The care economy is increasingly recognised as a productive economic strategy with measurable impact on labour participation, human capital and long-term growth.

A new policy paper published by the Policy Center for the New South, co-authored by Hajar Kabbach and Otaviano Canuto, Faculty Member of GIOYA Higher Education Institution, examines how investment in childcare, eldercare and care workforce professionalisation can generate broader economic returns.

Drawing on international experience from Uruguay, Mexico, Colombia and India, the paper explores the implications for Morocco’s reform agenda and highlights care policy as a strategic lever for inclusive development.
